swap party!

this past friday, i hosted a swap party for the gals in my neighborhood. everyone was invited to bring whatever they no longer wanted, in hopes of swapping their stuff for someone else's... clothes, shoes, belts, purses, jewelry, housewares, children's clothing/gear, books - even a bridesmaid dress that looked like it was from 1995... you name it, it was at this party!
we laughed, we ate, we tried on clothes, we shared stories of how the items came to be and why we no longer wanted them... one of the girls said that her mom used to do this all the time in the 60s - what better way to spend time with your friends, and shop without having to spend a penny?!

i was able to get rid of some baby toys, books, and a set of pottery that was just taking up space - and in return, scored a few tops, a pumpkin costume for one of the kids, a necklace, and this little cutie...

if you haven't been to a swap party yet, i highly recommend going, or hosting one of your own!
it's the perfect way to get rid of things you don't want and get some things you do want. :) and when the party is over, whatever isn't "repurposed" at the end of the evening can go to the crisis assistance league or goodwill.

everybody wins!
