our new favorite thing
like a lot of people, whenever we were out of fruits and veggies, i would head to the grocery store to stock up. of course this need to get produce would always seem to occur at the precise moment when everyone else was getting off from work and stopping by the store, too.
which meant it was slim pickin's by the time the kids and i arrived.
and then a few weeks ago, i had a revelation - forget about trying to find decent produce in the store - go to the farmer's market, where there's an amazing amount of food to choose from, make an adventure out of it for the kids, and also save some serious cash!
so that's what we've been doing, and it has become one of our most favorite things to do.
lucy loves to name the vegetables, and she also likes to help put food in the basket.
sometimes we come across stuff we've never seen before, like these crazy guys...
has anyone had a bitter melon before?
to keep this post photography-related, wouldn't it have been nice if i could've actually photographed lucy smelling the fruits, or handing a tomato to me? yes, it would've been wonderful, and would've definitely made for a more interesting post... but truth be told, it was just easier to keep her in the stroller while i had fun with my camera. plus, i don't have to worry about the produce turning their heads or blinking their eyes at the last minute. :)
