bending the rules
for the most part, we keep a fairly regular nighttime routine - dinner, bath, book, bed.
we all like the routine, but after a while, it can get a little boring.
so the other night, just as i was closing lucy's curtains before saying goodnight, the massive orange sun came shining in thru her window and glared at me. i realized it was just too gorgeous outside for anyone over the age of 3 (she's 3.5) to sleep, so i asked if she wanted to come outside for a quick photo shoot. she was totally game (normally she wants nothing to do with my camera), so we quickly changed into a cute little ensemble and headed out.
this, by the way, is how she is at 7 in the morning, too...
after some dancing and jumping and flower-sniffing, she asked if i would take pictures of her being a "royal princess lady girl." yes, your majesty...
then we had a little contest to see who could say the funniest words - silly willy, giggle pot, and stink bomb are her favorites...
it was a contest, so i pulled out the big guns, and won with toot monkey.
i'm glad we had our impromptu session... it was fun bending the rules a little, and i think it made her feel special to be out with mom past her bedtime.
and now she knows a new funny phrase to share with all her friends.
I Love this! She will remember this - I guarantee it!!
ReplyDeleteThose "princess" shots are amazing...I'm in love:)
Gah! We are such big fans of that little love over here.
