children's portraits: personal
every couple of years,
my husband talks about selling his
oldsmobile vista cruiser station wagon.
his daddy drove her off the lot in 1970,
and she was the family car my husband grew up riding in.
for the last 10 years, she's taken up residence on the left side of our driveway,
under the car port, getting washed and taken for a spin just a few times a year.
some days he's ready to part ways with her,
but then we'll happen to see a glimpse of one drive by in a movie,
or his buddy sends him a 4-page magazine article about a guy who took an old vista
on a modern day griswold family vacation,
and my husband puts away all thoughts of selling.
i'm not much help in the matter because i have a thing for old cars,
and i really love a good story.
and since she was his childhood car, and he's got so many memories with her,
i think it's so cool that he still has her.
plus, the old girl has been an awesome storage unit. :)
but then again, it might be nice to be able to park under the car port...
well, we are currently in a season of possibly letting her go,
and this past weekend he wanted me to take some pictures for a craigslist posting.
i did, but then i also took some fun ones of the kids playing around in the back...
i could be wrong, but i'm guessing we'll keep her just a little while longer.
