nap time
lucy's always been a great napper, and at almost 4 and a half, will still take an afternoon nap most days.
corbin, however, seems to think that there are better ways to use his time... so we've struggled a bit with it lately. he will stay in his room, but most days he prefers to play with toys, jump on his bed, and/or empty the contents of his dresser drawers out onto the floor. i normally let him do his thing for about 10 minutes, then i'll go in, end his happiness, and put him back to bed. there is lots of crying, moaning, and gnashing of teeth (mostly by me), but consistency is the key, right...??
so the other day, i was pretty surprised when i didn't hear a peep out of him. i waited a solid 20 minutes, thinking at any moment i was going to have to go in there and ruin his day. but it was completely silent.
victory! i'd finally conquered this battle of wills. i even poured myself a glass of milk, got a chocolate chip cookie, and sat down on the couch to watch the cooking channel.
i wasn't even finished with the cookie when out of nowhere, i hear him exclaim to the top of his lungs, "FREE AIRPLANES!! ONE... TWO... FREE!!!"
i thought he was dreaming, but then i heard "AND ANUHVER ONE... FOUR!!!"
ok, so either my kid is doing mathematics in his sleep, or he's up to something.... so i quietly cracked open his door, and was totally floored by what i saw...
that little airplane-counting stink bomb.
These pictures just MADE MY DAY. Hilarious!!
